Founded in 1975, L. I. Smith & Associates, Inc. has grown from a small business to a major competitor in the civil engineering and surveying profession. The company began as a surveying company and since then, has evolved into a full service civil engineering company with offices in Paris and Nashville, Tennessee, and Anniston, Alabama. The staff has grown to include the ability to deliver services in GIS, GPS, aerial photography, material testing and quality control, environmental and transportation engineering.

During the past years L. I. Smith & Associates has had extensive experience in the transportation industry, being responsible for over $1 billion in Highway projects relating to over 500 miles of roads and bridges. The company has completed over 150 boundary projects for the State of Tennessee consisting of several thousand-acre tracts to city lots. Our material testing and inspection laboratory has been the QA/ QC lab on multiple airport projects.

L.I. Smith and Associates GIS group has completed mapping projects in 10 Kentucky counties and cities. The GPS group has gathered the data to import into GIS databases from Florida to Kentucky. Aerial photography projects have been completed in Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama.

L.I. Smith & Associates is owned by Lucile D. Smith, a registered Land Surveyor with over 30 years experience. L.I. Smith is designated as a DBE with many of the state agencies, including the Department of Transportation in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Mississippi.
