Established in 1975, L.I. Smith & Associates, Inc. is a professional company that was converted to a corporation in 1996. Through the years, L.I. Smith has maintained a
well-qualified staff of professional land surveyors, engineers, highly competent field personnel, and certified mapping technicians. Our dedication to quality work, attention to detail and personal service has enabled us to build a solid reputation with federal, state, county and municipal agencies, as well as industrial, commercial and private developers and property owners.

L.I. Smith & Associates professional land surveyors are registered in eleven (11) states
in the central and southeast region, and our professional engineers are licensed in
seven (7). Our service area includes the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Over the years, by delivering quality experience in civil and environmental engineering,
L.I. Smith has accumulated an impressive record on a wide range of projects. Our professional staff includes TDEC certified Erosion Control Specialists to provide erosion control design and monitoring services for construction projects. We provide construction engineering and inspection (CEI) services and have a team of certified inspectors and program managers for roadway and bridge projects. These individuals are certified in the testing and inspection of concrete, aggregates, soil, asphalt, and erosion control inspection. L.I. Smith's staff includes a qualified Health and Safety officer whose responsibility includes establishing procedures to protect the health and safety of
L.I. Smith employees on each of our project sites. Members of our team complete regular safety training and are HAZWOPER, CPR and First Aid certified.

Surveyors in our transportation division provide construction stakes, lines and grades for a wide range of highway construction projects. L.I. Smith & Associates has well proven experience in the transportation industry, providing construction staking on over $1.2 billion in highway projects, relating to over 530 miles of roads and bridges. L.I. Smith's land surveyors provide property boundary and topographic surveys and have extensive experience covering large tracts of land. Over the last five years, L.I. Smith's surveyors have completed over 1,200 boundary surveying projects, and over 150 boundary survey contracts with the State of Tennessee.

We also provide photogrammetric services to our clients, and have a Certified Photogrammetrist with over 30 years experience on staff. Our photogrammetric services include high order digital topographic mapping, digital orthophotography and Geographic Information System (GIS) capabilities. All of our survey crews are equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment utilizing both cell phone and/or RTK methodology.
