Beginning
in 1975, L. I. Smith & Associates began surveying residential
lots and farms in the heart of west Tennessee. Since then,
our surveying division has evolved into an experienced team
taking on a broad range of projects including:
- Fiber
optic surveys along existing gas lines across Kansas;
- Fiber
optic surveys along railroad lines from Little Rock, Arkansas
to Louisville Kentucky;
- Survey
for the disposition of property for 15 miles of abandoned
railroad line;
- Cell
tower surveys from Virginia to Arkansas and from Biloxi,
Mississippi to Flint, Michigan;
- Transportation
surveys from Siloam Springs, Arkansas to Etowah, Tennessee
and from Hopkinsville, Kentucky to Jackson, Mississippi;
- Boundary
surveys have been completed from the Mississippi
River and its tributaries to the Ozark and Appalachian Mountains,
from the Gulf Coast to the plains of Illinois and Missouri;

Our

Boundary
Surveys
A boundary survey is the most
basic, but generally the most important survey. This survey
involves the locating and marking of property lines. L.I.
Smith & Associates has been providing boundary surveys
for over 30 years. We have surveyed literally thousands of
tracts of land. We have the ability to survey everything from
a quarter acre lot to a 5300-acre timber tract. We have provided
boundary surveys for clients such as the State of Tennessee,
auction companies, real estate companies, and the single homeowner.
Topographic
Surveying
A topographic survey is one
that shows all the features and improvements on a piece of
property. This type of survey is usually required in order
to design a building and other improvements for a tract. LIS
has conducted thousands of topographic surveys. If it doesn't
move, we will locate it and map it. We will provide the client
with a quality product for design or construction.
ALTA/ASCM
In a commercial transaction,
a lender, title company, or owner may require that a survey
be performed which meets the ALTA/ACSM Minimum Standard Detail
Requirements for a Land Title Survey and the selected Table
A Options. L.I. Smith & Associates prepares ALTA/ACSM
Land Title Surveys for commercial and residential projects
ranging in size from one acre parcels to large multiple acre
parcels. Our professionals maintain a keen understanding of
the ever changing Land Title Survey requirements and are consistently
able to meet the time constraints associated with these types
of projects. Providing
services for over 30 years, our professionals have prepared
surveys for various developers and lenders for establishments
like Mapco Express, Walgreens, Red Robin, McDonalds, Krystals,
and Starbucks.
Construction
Surveying
L.I. Smith & Associates,
Inc. has provided construction stakes, lines and grades for
a very diverse range of construction projects. Our firm's
personnel have considerable construction experience which
enables them to communicate readily with contractors on each
job site. LIS&A has extensive experience in the transportation
industry providing construction staking on over $1 billion
in Highway projects, relating to over 500 miles of roads and
bridges. LIS&A has experience with different types of
construction staking projects that have ranged from a single
house for an individual homeowner to utility and building
layouts for multi-unit residential or commercial developments.
The LIS&A team offers staking of highways, streets, bridges,
benchmarks, centerline, right-of-way lines, signage, slope
stakes, subgrade blue-tops, pavement, curb line and grade,
utilities, culverts, drainage structures, and much more.
